About MindTech Specs

A field guide for technology that acts on the mind—and the body.

Mental wellness hardware sits in an awkward space between consumer electronics, self-care, and medicine. We built MindTech Specs to make that space easier to navigate.

Clarity before conversion.

These devices are expensive, unfamiliar, and often marketed with scientific language. A useful comparison has to do more than repeat feature lists. It should explain what touches your body, what the device actually delivers, how often it expects to be used, and how closely the evidence matches the claim.

MindTech Specs is designed as an independent research and comparison publication. We are not a healthcare provider and we do not diagnose conditions or recommend treatment.

Specificity matters.

Evidence for vagus nerve stimulation is not automatically evidence for every vagus-nerve-branded product. A study of implanted VNS does not validate a vibrating chest device. A regulatory mark does not mean every marketing statement has been independently confirmed.

We therefore distinguish among technology-level evidence, device-specific evidence, manufacturer-funded work, independent replication, regulatory status, and anecdotal experience.

Commercially sustainable, editorially independent.

MindTech Specs may eventually earn revenue through clearly labeled advertising and affiliate links. Compensation will not determine which products appear, how evidence is described, or where a product ranks. Paid placements, if introduced, will be visually and verbally distinct from editorial comparisons.

At launch, no featured manufacturer has paid for inclusion.

Editorial principles

01

Original sources first

Regulators, trial registries, peer-reviewed papers, instructions for use, and current product documentation.

02

Claims stay attributed

When a benefit comes from the manufacturer, we say so. When evidence is missing, we say that too.

03

Corrections stay visible

This category evolves. Material updates will carry a date and a clear account of what changed.
